Yes, 600w HPS lamp systems plug right into a regular 110V outlet. I would only consider systems that are UL/CSA listed.

The bubbles don’t necessarily have to make contact with the roots. The purpose of the air pump is to simply oxygenate the nutrient solution, which will be passed on to the roots whether the bubbles touch them or not.

    HID lamps are …
HID lamps are available in a number of different wattages. The example shown in the video is a 250 watt metal halide (home harvest . com / sbsys . htm). The energy consumption of this light would be the equivalent of 2.5 100 watt reading lamps in your home, yet the light output is approximately 500 percent more per watt of energy consumed.

Question for Carl concerning the aeration of the water: I bought an aquarium air pump in order to supply oxygen to the water, hence essentially to the roots, but do the bubbles have to make contact with the roots? Or is simply supplying oxygen (but without bubbles making contact with the roots) to the water sufficient enough. Thanks.
