I think this is great. Where did you get the solar panel, the make & model # and the pumps make & model # that works off of the solar panel. Is the solar panel charging a battery, and the battery then runs the pump? How does that work? You did a wonderful job! Thanks RR

this is a genius idea. One that I’m going to have to highly consider.. No I got to get the worm bin going.. What all are you growing out there? and too bad it couldn’t be done indoors and the cells large enough to power 1000 watt hud..

What happens at night when the there is no sun to power the system and the there is no water to keep the roots moist? They usually dry up and the plant dies.

The “waste” can be …
The “waste” can be used to water house plant or other dirt borne plants so its not as bad as you make it sound. I use my used hydro water to water the lawn where it does not grow well and can tell a difference in the thickness of the greass.

I would like to know where you got the square tubing.

No I meant …
No I meant chemicals. Nutrients are great but most hydroponics I have heard of use salt based fertilizers which need to be flushed from the system from time to time. This flush creates what I personally would call chemical waste. Therefore a system that doesn’t need to use chemicals is awesome. I just have never heard of it!
August 28th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
I think when you …
I think when you mention chemicals you actually mean “nutrients”. Remember that soil contains all the properties needed to grow stuff so if you make compost tea it will be rich in nutrients and a balance Ph for the vegetables and fruit plants.

Can you really do …
Can you really do hydroponics without chemicals? I’ve never seen that…
